BPL: BookMatch Teen
Learn the art of recommending books and offer a readers’ advisory service exclusive to teens. Along the way, meet new friends and make connections to careers in publishing, writing, libraries and more. Participants must be in grades 9-12 and will earn a stipend, volunteer hours and resume-boosting experience. Apply online here by October 5. 

BPL: Librarians of Tomorrow
Librarians of Tomorrow is an innovative, hands-on internship program for 10th-12th grade students from diverse backgrounds with an interest in library careers. We seek committed and enthusiastic individuals who are ready to learn, work, and help others! Apply here ASAP (applications accepted on a rolling basis). 

BPL: StoryTeen
StoryTeen is an internship program for 10th-12th grade students with an interest in literacy and early childhood education. As a StoryTeen intern, you’ll learn about literacy, assist with storytime, and have fun! Apply here by October 14 (applications accepted on a rolling basis).

Apply this month for Brooklyn Museum's paid teen internships. Join their mailing list to stay up to date on their many programs. 

BK Museum: Teen Night Planning Committee
In this paid internship, New York City teens create community programming grounded in art and activism, collaborating in program design, organizing activities, and promoting young artists who are changing the world.

BK Museum: InterseXtions: Gender & Sexuality
In this paid internship, New York City LGBTQ+ teens ages 14–19 explore gender and sexuality in art through an activist lens, and work collaboratively to organize programs for other queer and trans youth. Apply here by October 15. 

BK Museum: Museum Apprentice Program
In this paid internship, New York City teens immerse themselves in art and art history, and learn about museum education while creating their own lessons for audiences of all ages. Apply here by October 8.

Reel Works FREE After-School Filmmaking Programs
Reel Works is recruiting for 2023-2024 filmmaking cohorts for the Documentary Lab, Narrative Lab, Doc Fellows, and Narrative Fellows!

The Doc Lab is our introductory documentary filmmaking workshop. High school students learn how to tell a story using filmmaking and are paired 1:1 with professional filmmaker mentors to plan, shoot, edit and present a short personal film about their lives and communities. The Doc Lab begins October 30, 2023 and runs until May 7th, 2024 every Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Application closes October 1st. Apply to the Documentary Lab HERE.

For more advanced filmmakers: 

The Narrative Lab is designed for experienced young filmmakers in high school to develop their ideas into short fiction films. The Narrative Lab focuses on screenwriting, advanced camera and lighting, casting and directing actors, producing, and post-production of short 7-10 minute films. Students are paired 1:1 with professional mentors who they will meet with weekly throughout the program. Narrative Lab begins on October 16th, 2023 and runs until June 19th, 2024. The program meets every Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Application closes October 1st. Apply to the Narrative Lab HERE.

The Narrative Fellows Program is the most advanced filmmaking program offered at Reel Works for students ages 16-24.This intensive, year-long fellowship provides talented young filmmakers with the opportunity to specialize in a craft of filmmaking: Screenwriting, Directing, Producing, Cinematography, or Editing. As a cohort, the students will create new and sophisticated work, gain individualized study with a professional mentor, receive hands-on work experience and media opportunities, and collectively focus on film studies and media literacy. Narrative Fellows begins November 15th, 2023 and runs until August 2024. The program meets every Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM.Application closes October 29th. Apply to Narrative Fellows HERE.
