Kids Garden Club
Join our Kids Garden Club this growing season facilitated by our neighbors at the McCarren Park Demonstration Garden.
Each workshop will cover a different topic, serving children of different ages.
Please make sure your child fits the age group for the workshop. As we will spend time in our rooftop Demonstration Garden, parents and caregivers are required to stay at the workshop. One child per registration please!
Tues. April 16, 3:30-4:30pm - Plant Buds, Plant a Garden - 8-12 years old.
Tues. May 7, 3:30-4:30pm - Gardening for the Senses - 4-10 years old.
This program will include a sensory station with food inlcuding lemon, banana, and saltine crackers. FYI for allergy concerns.
Tues. May 21, 3:30-4:30pm - Nature Cycles in our Urban Ecosystem - 6-10 years old
Tue. June 4, 3:30-4:30pm - Life Cycle of a Flower - 6-10 years old
Sat. June 15, 10:30-11:30am Urban Ecosystem Scavenger Hunt - 5-10 years old (Offsite at McCarren Demonstration Garden, 457 Leonard St. BK, 11222)
Tues. June 25, 3:30-4:30pm - Cooking from the Garden - 8-12 years old
The McCarren Park Demonstration Garden is an initiative of North Brooklyn Mutual Aid which grows fresh food for donation to the neighborhood’s free fridges. Since 2022, the garden has provided 1500 pounds of produce for their neighbors. The McCarren Demo Garden also acts as a community hub for eco education and food justice.
This program is funded by the generous support of the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund.
