Clarendon Library

Clarendon Library is closed for a major heating and cooling upgrade, as well as a garden renovation, both managed by NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC). DDC has adjusted the project schedule and the library is now expected to reopen in early 2025.

Amenities

The award-winning Clarendon Library came from humble beginnings, first opening in 1913 as an unstaffed deposit station in Markland's Drug Store on Clarendon Road. By 1954, it was a full-service BPL branch operating at its current location on Nostrand Avenue. The branch won an Art Commission Award for Excellence after its 1990 renovation, and it's easy to see why—Clarendon boasts a sky-lit reading room, distinctive window guards and gates, plus an outdoor recreational courtyard.
