  • SummaryImage represented is one of a related set (PORT 0800), some of which may also be described in this new record; Two views of buildings once lived in by American poet Walt Whitman. 0800 shows an apparently unoccupied wood-frame building, located at 106 Myrtle Avenue, with large sign, "Meats, Poultry and Fish" above first floor. Image also includes one male pedestrian, street lamp with fire alarm, and trash can. 0801 shows small, wood-frame building, also apparently unoccupied, located at 71 Prince Street, where Whitman lived from 1848 to 1852, with several signs including large sign, "A. Trotter Lumber & Supply Co., Inc." and much smaller sign, "Store to let." Image also includes portion of attached, brick building on right, and residential building in left background.
