  • SummaryDrawing of symbols of depression: black moon of war, and positive symbols. Artwork made for project: Battle after the battle, 2013. Project was a collaboration of creative arts therapist Beryl Brenner with VA NYHHS psychologist Dr. Yasmeen Yamini-Benjamin and Kingsborough Community College recreation therapy intern Shawnese Marriott and focused on coping with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Exhibition label: The black of war, Yugishter Bacchus, drawing and collage, 2013. I did three tours in Iraq. The feeling that I had when I created the picture was depression. The big circle symbolizes the black moon of war. My coping skills are breathing, art, music and my peers. The cross is the Lord the we pray to. The wings are the two sides that the war creates. What you are like before and what you become.
