  • SummaryCollage, 25 x 23 inches, with drawing of Zippo lighter and text: Find 'em, fix 'am, fight 'em. Artwork created in New York Harbor Hospital Creative Arts Program, led by Beryl Brenner. Project: Visions of vets, 2009, referencing the theme: Who is an American veteran? Artwork was displayed at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Vietnam Era Museum and Education Center. Exhibition label: Zippo’s Raiders: Captain Lee by Ali Chumagali. Mr. Chumagali states “in Vietnam, the Zippos was a tool to erase thoughts of the enemy and their existence. It was provided as a common tool for all American troops.” Just like the dog tags in some of the other artworks, the Zippo is a universally recognizable symbol. It would be familiar to all Vietnam vets who served “in country.”
