  • SummaryClose-up of hole on bridge roadway with portions of two automobiles, pedestrian, and trolley car in background. Caption: "Traffic on the south roadway of Brooklyn Bridge was tied up for a half-hour yesterday noon by a fire under the paving blocks about 50 feet west of the Manhattan Tower. It was believed to have been caused by friction of the dry hot blocks. An emergency crew was forced to tear up about 10 square feet of the blocks. Damage was slight."
