This striking photo shows the 100-foot Liberty Pole erected in front of the New Utrecht Dutch Reformed Church, 18th Ave. and 84th St., to mark the evacuation of the British fron New Utrecht on Nov. 25, 1783. Topped by an eagle, with an arrow bearing the word 'Liberty,' this pole is the sixth erected on the exact spot where the Stars and Stripes were flown in New Utrecht for the first time more than 160 years ago."
