Exhibition label: Shatter by Mei Jun Li, cardboard, paper and drawing, 20 H x 30 W inches, 2012. Iraq War veteran Mei Jun Li presents a youthful, innocent image of himself and his family juxtaposed against one of a person who has seen combat. He pays homage to the dead and the wounded in the second image. The pictures of eyes represent those that died in battle and the wounded are shown in a hospital bed and a wheelchair. Li, a survivor, stands beside a tree and thinks about the people that he served with in Iraq.
