Happy Birthday, Harry Potter!

Christina

Set your time-turners, because Monday, July 31st is Harry Potter's Birthday and we're having a PARTY!

Join us at Central Library as we Celebrate Harry's (37th!) Birthday and the 20th Anniversary of J.K. Rowling's series. Activities include wand making, spellbook inscription, fortune telling, and a dramatic reading of scenes from Cursed Child by librarians and volunteers. You'll also get sorted into your Hogwarts House and learn how to care for your own Magical Creature!

Can't make it to the event?  You can still celebrate the day from home by making your very own wand. The steps are so simple, even a Muggle can make it!

What you'll need:

  •   Wooden Chopsticks
  •   Clear Straws
  •   Colored paper
  •   Markers
  •   Pipe Cleaners
  •   Beads

Step 1: Decorate a wooden chopstick with markers, then fit a clear plastic straw over the skinny end of the chopstick.

Step 2: Roll up small pieces of colored paper and insert them into the plastic straw.

Wand 2

Step 3: Take pipe cleaners and wrap them around the wand. You can also string a few beads onto the pipe cleaners before wrapping them around the wand, if desired. Accio, wand!

Wand 3

Now that you're equipped with your wand, be sure to apparate over to Central Library on July 31st. The fun begins at 12:00pm! Click here for more details.
