University Open Air: Intersex Activism

BPL Presents humanities and art University Open Air


Who are the Intersex people? What challenges do they face? What is difference between Intersex and LGBTQ? What is an intersex identity? What are Intersex organizations in the US and in other countries? Aleksander Berezkin, Intersex man and a political immigrant from Russia will discuss this and other issues regarding Intersex policy.

Aleksander Berezkin holds MS Candidate in Nonprofits Management at The New School (USA), BA in Sociology at Kemerovo State University (Russia). His research fields are Intersex studies, Narrative Storytelling and Fairytale therapy, Bioethics, Human Rights. In addition to his research, he is a Volunteer/Consultant at the UN program Free and Equal, and a Community Development Consultant at the community organisation of Russian Speaking Women in Immigration (http://superclara.org/) in Stamford (USA), Founder the Association of Russian Speaking Intersex people ( http://www.arsintersex.org/) in Moscow (Russia) and Astana (Kazakhstan)

In collaboration with Prospect Park Alliance, Brooklyn Public Library presents University Open Air, a free, three-week series of classes beginning Tuesday, June 11th in Prospect Park’s former Rose Garden.
