Top Five Scary Movies You SHOULDN'T Watch!

Awa Diawara | Librarians of Tomorrow Intern

If you’re a horror fan like I am, chances are that during quarantine you’ve been binge watching every scary movie out there, you're now used to cheap jumpscares, and nothing has gotten you. Well, this list contains five of the highest rated horror movies, all of which are filmed as found footage!  Watch at your own risk....

Gonjiam Haunted Asylum- This movie gave me the chills and it has to be the scariest one on this list. It follows the story of six people who break into an abandoned haunted asylum, livestreaming the whole thing. It takes a while for all the action to start but when it does...it really gets you!

The Descent- A group of women go cave diving and encounter inhuman creatures. During the course of the movie, they struggle to survive. The scenes that are shown are so chilling and will stick with you for a while. I recommend not to watch it at night....

Hell House LLC 1 & 2- I just recently watched these movies and, if you’re afraid of clowns, this movie will creep you out. The storyline follows a group who rent out an abandoned hotel to make it into a haunted house for Halloween. But, things take a turn for the worst as the hotel starts to haunt them.

Rec 1 & 2- This movie, as well as the ones mentioned above, are all filmed as found footage. I believe this movie has to be one of the best found footage films out there. A TV host and her cameraman are documenting the life of firefighters. However, a call brings them to an apartment building where a woman is infected by a virus, giving her unimaginable strength. It suddenly turns into a zombie infection and everyone inside the building is trapped as it turns into a race for survival.

Paranormal Activity- An iconic movie! The whole series in general is just so interesting.  Micah and Katie move into a suburban home and suddenly encounter a terrifying entity. What happens next will really scar you. As for the next few months, things take a drastic turn. This one really gets you at the parts when you least expect it.
