Center for Brooklyn History genealogy

Connecting with your family history can provide a sense of community, deepen personal identity, and strengthen family connections. The Brooklyn Jewish History Project at the Center for Brooklyn History, in collaboration with the Center for Jewish History, presents a series of free 1-hour Zoom workshops led by CJH genealogy librarian J.D. Arden and the Brooklyn Jewish History Project Outreach Archivist, Ariane Loeb.

Participants will learn the basics of Jewish genealogy, with a focus on Brooklyn’s history. We will share tips, tools, and online database suggestions to help you start your research. All family backgrounds, Western or Eastern Diaspora, Ashkenazi or Mizrachi, are welcome.

The Brooklyn Jewish History project is an oral history and community scanning initiative to document the lives of Jewish identifying members of the Brooklyn Community. To contribute oral histories, photographs, family memorabilia or ephemera, please contact us by emailing Aloeb@bklynlibrary.org.

This program and the Brooklyn Jewish History Project is made possible through the generous funding of the David Berg Foundation.
