Covid Day of Remembrance: Rainbow Mosaic

Sun, Mar 21 2021
8:00 am – 8:30 am
Virtual

arts and crafts COVID remembrance day

As we turn over the one-year mark from the beginning of New York City's Covd-19 pandemic crisis, we feel it is important to create a safe space for our community to grieve, reflect, and share their feelings. On March 14th Carroll Gardens Branch Facebook page will be posting a space for an "Open Thread" where people can share poems, art or photos, or songs.

Join us at the Carroll Gardens Library Branch Facebook page on Sunday, March 14th for an "Open Thread" to share poems, art or photos, or songs.  We all have different experiences from the last year, and our library's great collections of wise and healing words and pictures is more important than ever.

As a follow up to our March 14th event we will be collecting everyone's words, photos and art to create a virtual, collaborative collage to honor everyone's experiences. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for that to be posted.

To go along with this we will be doing a craft for all ages on Sunday March 21st. We will be making a Rainbow Mosaic-something you can hang in your window, in your home, or send to a loved one. This craft will be posted on the Carroll Gardens Library Branch Facebook and can be accesed after the program in our Facebook vidoes.

Supplies:

  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Colorful material to cut: newspaper, construction paper, magazines
  • Scissors
  • Paper Plate (optional)
  • String (optional)
