Divesting from Big Tech

Do you feel like Big Brother is watching you and you don’t know what to do? Do you feel lost in this current state of technology, doomscrolling on corporate social media? Are there alternative communities you can engage with? Join us for the third and final part of our Digital Surveillance Resources Series where we will break down ways of refusal and divestment from these technologies and focus on fostering community connections again. 

The workshop will be led by Serita Sargent, a Ph.D. student in Library and Information Science at Rutgers University. Their research surrounds data/tech ethics, including AI and algorithmic bias, focusing on AI and everyday surveillance technologies. 

The program will be streamed on BPL's YouTube Channel and will include a Q&A. You will be able to submit questions anonymously.
