Global Citizen Poetry
Inspired by Ilya Kaminsky’s “Poets in the World” series, Global Citizen Poetry will examine the work of living poets based outside of the United States. In addition to the “Poets in the World” anthologies, we will read New Generation African Poets, PEN Award for Poetry in Translation winners, PEN Poets in Exile, The Song Atlas, as well as collections by Adam Zagajewski, Vahni Capildeo and Anthony Anaxagorou.
The class will be led by writer and human rights professional Emily Sernaker. Emily's work has appeared in Ms. Magazine, The Sun, The San Francisco Chronicle, The New York Times, McSweeney's and more. She is a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar and a staff writer for the International Rescue Committee.
Registrants are encouraged to attend all 7 sessions, which include writing prompts.
Classes will take place in the Elsie Smith Room downstairs in the Dweck Center with the exception of class on March 4th, which will be in Info Commons.
