Leonard Library invites you to an exciting music-filled journey:  "African Instruments, Music, and Dances from the Motherland to the Diaspora" with percussionists Kevin Nathaniel.

Kevin Nathaniel gives a demonstration featuring instruments, dances, and music of Africa;  promoting wider knowledge and understanding of African culture and its contribution to world culture, 

Participants will learn about the mbira, one of Africa’s most ancient melodic instruments, as well as shekere, and several other instruments. Kevin will share traditional and contemporary call-and-response songs from various regions of Africa and connect them to the diaspora.

Music at its best brings us together and allows us to connect regardless of language, race or class. Musical instruments are tools for the building of a peaceful world and show us something essential about the human spirit.
