Come play LINGO BINGO at the Library!
Join us on Saturday, May 3rd from 1 to 3 p.m. right outside the Bay Ridge Library.
Lingo Bingo is a participatory public art project by Thomas Gallagher: an oversized bingo game where numbers have been replaced with words and phrases in multiple languages. The game offers an opportunity for neighbors to bridge language and cultural barriers, to discover shared values in a low risk, playful setting. Lingo Bingo Bay Ridge is played in 9 languages from the community, exploring connections between the immigrant experience and environmental awareness. After playing their game, participants are invited to take home a word in a language that speaks to them.
Presented in conjunction with the show Essential Shore / Permeable Future at Stand4 Gallery.
Thomas Gallagher is a Brooklyn* based interdisciplinary artist with 30+ years experience in graphic design and motion graphics. A peacemaker, dancer, organizer & activist; his interdisciplinary experience engenders understanding and openness, helping him recognize connections and common cause where others see only polarization. *Lenapehoking, homeland of the Lenape
