arts and crafts BPL Presents Events for Youth and Family storytime

Join celebrated children's book author and contemporary artist Christopher Myers for a storytime as he reads his book Wings. The storytime takes place in the Grand Lobby art installation created by artist Joe Namy, as part of the exhibition Joe Namy: Heavy with Love.

Following Christopher Myers' storytime, children and caregivers are invited to imagine through drawing. All are welcomed to draw and write on posters, provided by the library and created by artist Joe Namy, who will co-facilitate this art making portion of the program.

We welcome ages 5-12 for this experience.

About the Artists

Christopher Myers is an artist and writer who lives in New York. While he is widely acclaimed for his work with literature for young people, he is also an accomplished fine artist who has lectured and exhibited internationally. He writes, “I’ve been asking the question lately, ‘What does it mean to be an artist whose work is rooted in the experience of global cultural exchange?”

Joe Namy is an artist, composer, and educator often working collaboratively through sound, video, performance, and sculpture.
