Join us for the return of Sunday service at Kings Highway Library, a celebration of community and culture. We are thrilled to present a special program featuring the renowned Peruvian singer and cultural advocate, Araceli Poma.

Araceli, a two-time Latin Grammy nominee, will bring her unique blend of Afro-Andean roots music, funk, and world music to the library. Her latest release, "Flower on Fire," highlights endangered voices and cultures, emphasizing the importance of cultural education and appreciation.

The event will include interactive bilingual programming designed for families and children:

  • Adventures in the Andes: An immersive story that explores the magic of the Andes mountains while teaching Spanish through music and song. Children will engage in fun activities, including hand-crafted puppets inspired by Peruvian culture.
  • Learn Spanish Through Music: Araceli, accompanied by her Peruvian instrument, the charango, will lead an interactive class where children can learn Spanish through songs, fun instruments, and participatory activities that make language learning enjoyable and memorable.
  • Afro Carnival Party for Kids: A vibrant celebration of Afro-Peruvian culture through music and dance. Children will learn about traditional instruments like the cajón, cajita, and jawbone, and participate in rhythmic percussion and dance workshops.

This event promises to be an unforgettable experience for families, highlighting the rich cultural traditions of Peru and fostering a love for language and music in children. Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate the reopening of Kings Highway Library with a day full of cultural enrichment and fun!
