University Open Air: Restoring the Earth: Exploring Sustainable Uses of Forest and Wood Products
Evidence shows that human activities are responsible for climate change. Forests are disappearing at an alarming rate and extreme weather events are taking place around the globe. This course is about the clarion call for environmental consciousness and sustainability. We will explore the causes behind deforestation, sustainable uses of forest and wood products, and highlight the roles government agencies, NGOs, and individuals can play to restore the earth.
Stephen Tekpetey is a research and teaching professional with over seven years of experience in teaching at the tertiary level. He holds a BSc(Hon) and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He is a current intern at New York-Presbyterian and a member of the technical committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/ TC 296).

Classes will take place outside along the lawn surrounding the Boathouse in Prospect Park.
