University Open Air: Halal and Haram in the US
This class will introduce halal and haram, and their importance to the Muslim community living in the U.S. After defining “halal,” the class will consider various concerns of finding halal goods, including which goods are difficult to find; apps Muslims can use to identify what is or not halal and what goods Muslims may have to bring from their countries of origin.
Nadia Batool Bokhari has a Master of Science (M.S.) in journalism from Columbia University. She is currently working as a freelance journalist in New York and has worked as a journalist in Pakistan, the UK and India. Nadia has over a decade of international reporting experience with a special focus on issues of social justice, human rights and health.
