It will be one of the main attractions of New York;" 1954: "First shovel poised--Model in photo above shows what Coney Island Aquarium will look like when completed on 12 acres facing sea at Surf Ave. and W. 8th St. Work on first section of great exhibition hall officially gets under way today with ground-breaking ceremonies. Aquarium is part of overall Coney Island rejuvenation;" 1955: "By the sea--Ground was broken for the new super-duper Aquarium at Coney Island, shown in model stage."
