The F. D. sent down a high pressure engine company, the rescue squad with gas masks and the searchlight company. The condition was cleared up. Deputy Fire Chief John J. Bennett, in charge of Brooklyn firemen, adjusts gas mask on Sewer Inspector Thomas McKenna. Borough President John Cashmore on left, and Borough Works Commissioner John J. Lynch on right." 0878: "Neighborhood women, who complained to Cashmore about the gas odor, thank him for clearing up the condition."
