Listen Up, Brooklyn!

Update: As a precaution to help limit the spread of coronavirus and support the City's efforts to promote social distancing, we have decided to postpone this event until the fall. The health of our whole community is our top concern. We will announce a new date on this page as soon as it's confirmed.

Join us for a night of podcasting at Brooklyn Public Library! Hear what fellow Brooklynites are making, and get connected to audio and podcasting resources available at the library and beyond.

Feature sessions: Join former This American Life producer Stephanie Foo as she hosts a panel with Hillary Frank, creator of The Longest Shortest Time, Keisha TK Dutes, host of TK in the AM and EP consultant of Hear To Slay, and and Jim O'Grady, host and reporter at WNYC, to talk about careers in audio and podcasting. Stick around for our second featured panel, a live recording of Borrowed, BPL’s flagship podcast!

Indie audio sessions: Throughout the night, we’ll have how-to workshops to introduce beginners to audio production, music making and more. Independent podcasters will have an opportunity exhibit their work and chat with interested patrons about what they do and how they do it. To have your work featured as part of the night, send us your greatest sound here.

All sessions and panels will take place on Saturday, March 14 from 7 to 9:30 pm at Central Library (10 Grand Army Plaza).

During "Listen Up, Brooklyn!" be sure to visit local podcasts and audio organizations at tables in the lobby. UnionDocs, Heritage Radio Network, BRICMiseducation podcast, and BPL’s BKLYN Mixtape and Outpost Redux podcasts (and more) will be there.
