Greenpoint Library

adult learning all ages author talks

Who were the Eckfords? Come learn about Greenpoint and baseball history at the Greenpoint Library. Local historian, author, and friend of the community, Tom Gilbert will answer all your Brooklyn baseball-related questions.

Tom is the author of many books, including Playing First, which tells the stories of dozens of 19th-century baseball men who are buried in Brooklyn's Green-Wood cemetery, and How Baseball Happened, a divergent take on the game's origins/spread that won the 2020 Casey Award for best baseball book of the year.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of McGolrick Park
