Calls from Home (Sylvia Ryerson, 2023) is an intimate portrait of rural prison expansion which documents a longstanding radio show that sends familial messages of love over public airwaves to reach people incarcerated in Central Appalachia.
Please join us for a free screening of Calls From Home followed by a discussion with director Sylvia Ryerson and event organizer Patrick Bannon about the film, about the state of parole in New York, and information on how to get involved with the campaign to free the Mississippi Five.
The Mississippi Five are five women who have collectively been incarcerated in Mississippi for a total of 175 years and denied parole 47 times! Hear their stories in their own words at http://www.studyandstruggle.com/ms5
