The Center for Brooklyn History's Summer Scholars internship program is a unique opportunity is designed for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with a passion for history and a strong interest in Brooklyn’s rich past. As a Summer Scholar, you will engage with CBH’s extensive resources to conduct research that supports our education programs, and you’ll have the chance to share your findings through various CBH platforms, including blogs, tours and/or curatorial projects.
Interns will work closely with a team of educators, historians, and archivists to explore CBH's collections and learn essential research skills. This hands-on experience will provide insight into the field of archival research, as well as an in-depth understanding of the Trace/s Exhibition at CBH.
Ideal candidates will have:
A deep interest in Brooklyn’s history
Strong writing and/or public speaking skills
A genuine desire to learn about archival research
Eligibility:
Open to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students
Must live or attend school in Brooklyn
Program details:
Interns will receive a $700 stipend upon completion of the program as well as roundtrip train fare for each session.
The internship takes place at the Center for Brooklyn History, located at 128 Pierrepont Street in Brooklyn Heights.
Internship schedule:
July Dates: 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 31
August Dates: 5, 7, 12, 14
Hours: 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM
