Meet an Archaeologist!

Explore our world! In the Science in the House series teens get a chance to meet with all kinds of interesting scientists and other people. Hear their stories and learn more about their lives and their work. Discover what life as a scientist is like!

Are you interested in the archaeology of the African diaspora?

Meet Laura Heath-Stout, Archaeologist!

Tuesday February 27, 4:00 - 5:00PM. Live and Virtual (with registration)

Dr. Heath-Stout, is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Stanford Archaeology Center.  She has done archaeological fieldwork in Massachusetts, Colorado, Mexico, Belize, Ecuador, and Spain. Laura is currently starting a new project on a 20th century institution for people with intellectual disabilities in Massachusetts. Laura Heath-Stout is a settler on Ramaytush Ohlone land (now San Francisco, CA) and an anthropological archaeologist who uses social science methods to study racism, sexism, ableism, and related issues in archaeology, and to make archaeology more inclusive to everyone with an interest in the past.

"My hobbies include cooking vegetarian food, hiking, visiting museums, reading feminist fantasy and science fiction, and playing with my two-year-old child."
