The Whitman Circle is a community of champions who believe that all Brooklynites deserve the chance to discover their potential at our libraries.
When you join the Whitman Circle, you make a statement about the Library’s enduring importance in our community and provide vital funding for outreach initiatives, youth programs, services for older adults—and of course, books.
Become a member of the Whitman Circle at any of the following levels, and you’ll also enjoy special access to Brooklyn Public Library:
- The Whitman Circle brings together Library supporters who give $1,500 a year or more to support BPL’s wide-ranging services across Brooklyn. These important donors are invited to private tours and literary events at Library branches, given behind-the-scenes opportunities to learn more about BPL programs, and offered reserved seating for public literary and cultural events.
- Opportunities for engagement increase at higher giving levels. At $2,500, members are invited to events in private homes, including the Cocktails and Conversation series, which brings well-known authors to discuss their books. Above $5,000, special insider tours and events highlight the Library’s offerings throughout the borough.
- Donors giving $10,000 or more are invited to develop their engagement with the Library with exclusive events and programs, including private dinners, customized reading lists, and special access to BPL programs, tailored to their individual interests.
